Let’s start with the basics. Connie Allegra was raised in Marietta, GA and moved to Florida in 1986. She lives in Sarasota, where she raised three children. Connie is a lover of many things - design, history, and books being at the top of the list. She enjoys spending time with her grown children and her sweet grandchildren.
Her first books are That Callie Can Do Just Anything! and Kei and Callie Visit Daisy's Farm, both of which are based on her own childhood but feature the names of two of her sweet grandchildren.
Michael's Imaginary Adventures is the second series that Connie wrote. Michael, The Treasure Hunter is the first book in that series. This book is based on Connie's youngest son who really was always finding treasures when he was young. This is a fun, exciting story of imaginary adventures!
That’s just a tiny, superficial bit of her story. Like everyone else, Connie has a whole lifetime of experiences - good and bad - that have shaped who she is. Like many people, Connie was raised in a dysfunctional, abusive family that has left it’s mark on her in many ways.
She is writing the Callie and Kei series of children’s books to help her heal from that trauma. In essence, she is rewriting her childhood to focus on what children should really experience - LOVE, SAFETY, SECURITY, BEAUTY, ACCEPTANCE, and the simple JOYS of CHILDHOOD.
Connie hopes you will join her on this journey. If you are also healing from childhood (or even adult) trauma, Connie encourages you to re-write your own life story and make it BEAUTIFUL!
